Hi, I’m Lindsay.
I help writers make their message consistent and clear. Because words matter.
About Me
Welcome! I’m Lindsay Frigon, a copy editor based in southeast Michigan. In elementary school, I watched my teachers diagram sentences on the chalkboard (yes, using real chalk!) and I slowly began to understand what was going on. My love for the creation of sentences, the spelling of words, and grammar nuances stuck around. I spent more than two decades in healthcare before transitioning to freelance editing. In 2016, I received a certificate in copyediting from Writer’s Digest University and have since edited for an environmental advocacy group where I’ve gained real-life experience and the ability to fine-tune my skills. In 2024, I completed additional specialty training in manuscript editing for trade publication and I currently freelance for a major publisher and independent authors.
My Approach
Collaborative
I get it, writing is personal. I believe that every piece of writing leaves part of the writer on the page. Your project is exactly that—yours. My role is to make recommendations, while you ultimately make the decisions. Our collective goal is to present your best work.
Respectful and Inclusive
I’m never here to judge you or your work. Expect a curious, friendly tone. I will also pay close attention to language related to inclusiveness and respect toward others.
Comprehensive
As a copy editor, I’m focused on both the big picture and the fine detail of your work. I’ll look at spelling, grammar, punctuation, style, timeline, and consistency. I’ll also perform basic fact-checking.
Areas of Special Interest
Thriller/Horror genre - I love a psychological thriller or something that spooks and horrifies me, and this is my primary genre of choice when I read for pleasure. Some of my favorite books in this genre are Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and The Second Husband by Kate White.
Mysteries - I’m a puzzle solver at heart and am always trying to solve the crime before the main character. This is where my love for reading really started, and I continue to enjoy mysteries. Some of my favorites are The Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman, Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders, both by Anthony Horowitz. I’m also a huge Scooby-Doo fan - go figure!
Medical fiction - My background includes work in the healthcare setting, giving me a leg up on medical terminology and jargon. Robin Cook is my favorite author in this genre.
Environmental advocacy work - I keep up to date on current issues related to the environment and I’m no stranger to terms like PFAS, CAFOs, EIS, EVs, and EJ.
Crafts - I’ve been a lifelong crafter, involved in all sorts of crafts, including counted cross stitch, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, and plastic canvas (just to name a few). Reading patterns for accuracy and completeness is part of my skill set.
Video gaming - I’m an avid video gamer and have specialty knowledge about many games on a variety of platforms. I’m currently playing COD: Black Ops 6, Mario Kart World, Pocket Styler, and Cooking Fever. One of my all-time favorite games is Plants vs. Zombies.
Disney - Yes, I’m a Disney enthusiast, and this includes theme parks, cruises, movies, and random trivia that may serve me well on Jeopardy! some day.

FAQ
-
Pricing is based on both the project's scope and your desired timeline. I charge on an hourly basis, and my rates are competitive and consistent with those listed on the Editorial Freelancers Association site. I’m happy to provide an estimate based on a sample read.
-
Let’s see if we are a good fit! I’m happy to provide a detailed estimate based on a sample read. For a full-length manuscript, a sample read consists of approximately 10 consecutive pages of your work that you feel need the most attention. For shorter projects, a shorter sample is sufficient, but the sample should be representative of a portion that needs the most attention.
-
It depends! This is generally determined by the length of the piece, the level of editing required, and type of writing (non-fiction, fiction, business writing, etc.). The Editorial Freelancers Association site provides some general information on the average number of pages per hour for different types of writing. Projects will be scheduled based on my availability.

I’m well-versed in The Associated Press Stylebook and the Chicago Manual of Style. In addition, I use Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary online, and other resources as necessary.
